Brian S. Weiss, Senior Advisor
Mr. Weiss is a Senior Advisor at Ocean Park and is the Managing Director of BSW Associates, a financial and accounting advisory services firm. Mr. Weiss specializes in complex transactions including business restructurings, capital raising activities, SEC issues and mergers and acquisitions.
Prior, Mr. Weiss served as VP of Finance, North America and successfully led the financial turnaround of the North American operations of the world’s fourth largest toy company, TOMY Company, Ltd. Prior to TOMY, Mr. Weiss served as Controller for Jazz Semiconductor. Mr. Weiss also served in senior finance capacities for Avamar Technologies and Flashcom, Inc. Mr. Weiss was also previously employed at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
Mr. Weiss is a Certified Public Accountant with an MBA from the University of Southern California and Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Major in Accounting, from San Diego State University.
Daryl Gillund, Senior Advisor
Mr. Gillund was formerly a division President with Global Ethanol Services. Previously, Mr. Gillund worked in the construction industry for 29 years, 13 of those as Owner/President of Fagen Inc., the pre-eminent builder of ethanol plants. During Mr. Gillund’s tenure with Fagen Inc., he was responsible for the development and capitalization of over twenty six ethanol projects.
In 2002, Mr. Gillund formed Agri-Source Consulting, which provides development and construction advice on Ag-oriented projects. To this day, Mr. Gillund operates Agri-Source and owns several investments in ethanol and other related industries. In 2005, Daryl partnered with Mark Fisler to form Coltivare, LLC an strategic advisory services and management company business.
Mr. Gillund is an honors graduate of Southwest State University in Marshall, MN with a B.S. in Accounting. Prior to that he served in the United States Marine Corps.
Peter Sherman, Senior Advisor
Mr. Sherman brings over 12 years of experience in strategy and business development with a focus on new media, technology and entertainment. Prior to Ocean Park, Mr. Sherman was the founder and CEO of 2J Media, a hands-on consulting firm for small to medium media and technology companies. Mr. Sherman managed engagements for clients including successfully negotiating the acquisition of a multi-million dollar technology company and developing new marketing strategies for a mature media company and leading their in-place staff to a 70% annual revenue increase.
As a senior executive, Mr. Sherman has successfully created and managed new businesses, both with online startups and within large corporations. As the SVP of Strategy & Business Development with Tonos Entertainment, an online music network, Mr. Sherman was successful in initiating and developing content, technology and advertising partnerships with a myriad of entertainment, media, online software and retail companies ranging from AOL Time Warner and Yahoo to Atlantic Records and Best Buy.
As a Director with NBC, Mr. Sherman helped build new media businesses from nothing to a $10 million EBITDA in 18 months by leveraging the various brands at NBC into video, music, publishing and software games and initiated the first successful e-commerce efforts at the company. Mr. Sherman began his career as a principal strategy consultant in Price Waterhouse’s Entertainment & Media Group.
Mr. Sherman received a Bachelor’s degree cum laude from The University of Virginia; a Master’s degree with Distinction in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University; and an MBA from The Wharton School.
Sebastien Douville, Senior Advisor
Mr. Douville is an Advisor to Ocean Park. He also works with Shone Capital Partners, a Toronto, ON-based corporate finance and investment advisory firm. He focuses on business development, investment due diligence and consulting services for the firm’s manufacturing, technology and energy clients.
Prior to Shone Capital, he was a co-founder of Axios Energy, a biofuels project development and consulting firm. While at Axios, he oversaw and carried out the firm’s engineering and technical consulting assignments for a wide range of clients, such as Allegro Biodiesel, JPMorgan Securities, Shift Biofuels and Five Star Technologies.
Mr. Douville received his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering and Materials Science magna cum laude from Princeton University. He is actively involved with the Princeton Chapter of Engineers Without Borders, as a former President of the group.
Jay Fillman, Senior Advisor
Mr. Fillman is a proven financial executive and was most recently the CFO of an AMEX-traded biodiesel company in need of restructuring. Mr. Fillman has over thirty years of experience with the demands of start up and financially struggling companies in Food, Agribusiness and Biofuels. He has performed forensic audits, concurrently instituting complete SOX compliance and management improvements, while reducing staff and external fees.
His experiences with SEC reporting requirements, as well as Tax Increment Financing negotiations, have been extremely useful with the development stage companies that he has led. Part of his business background includes experience in Federal Bankruptcy turnarounds of troubled businesses as a loan officer, tax preparer and commodity hedging advisor.
Mr. Fillman founded and currently owns a thriving insurance brokerage business which adds to his understanding of risk management tools. As an Enrolled Agent before the Internal Revenue Service, he explores and uses complex fiscal tax management strategies to maximize the benefits of any transaction he is involved with.
